Ultrasonic Cavitation: Everything You Need to Know
What exactly it is-
Many people are unfamiliar with this treatment because when everyone thinks of quick and long-lasting fat reduction they think of liposuction. So, what if there was a procedure just like liposuction, but you didn’t have to go into surgery and spend days healing? This is when ultrasonic cavitation was born. Ultrasonic cavitation is commonly referred to as “liposuction without the surgery.” To understand it better, it is a treatment made for weight-loss that destroys fat cell membranes by the use sound waves at a very low frequency. During this process, the cells turn into liquid and are released through the lymphatic and urinary system.
Liposuction is an invasive procedure that involves going under anesthesia and surgically removing fat from under the skin using a device called the “cannula.” Liposuction recovery can be very painful and even life threatening, considering that the prodding can risk rupturing an organ. Fortunately, with ultrasonic cavitation, you will never be poked, prodded, sedated- you won’t even see needles. Your medical expert will only ever use an ultrasound device during this treatment.
How exactly does it work?
Again, fat cells are destroyed and turned into liquid using sound waves. But how is this safely done? Fatty substances and triglycerides are quickly released when targeted by ultrasonic waves. These waves break these areas down- the places that tend to get flabby and are extremely difficult to lose weight in. Your body will be working hard during the week after the treatment- the excess fat and triglycerides will be naturally processed. You never have to worry about the tissue around the targeted area being risked, as the ultrasound device is calibrated only to target fat cells.
How many treatments will I need?
This all depends on the conversation between you and your doctor. Considering that everyone has a different body size/shape, an appropriate amount of treatments can only be suggested during your consultation and after you have had a physical performed. We will also discuss your long-term goals and the target areas that you want to see fat removed from. For optimum weight loss, usually a plan of 10-20 weeks of treatment is configured for most people. For best results, there will be four days between scheduled sessions in order to let your body eliminate fat. The ideal ultrasonic cavitation candidate is at least somewhat healthy and understands how to follow a diet and exercise routine. This treatment does not help the morbidly obese.
How soon will results show?
Surprisingly, you may be able to see a difference after your first session is completed- most people do. The week following your treatment you will notice the fat coming off of you rapidly, and you will notice more drastic changes after the sessions following.
During the treatment, you will have gel applied to the areas in which you want fat removed from. The ultrasonic device is placed on the area for 20-30 minutes. No surgery needed!
How the fat is expelled-
It might seem a little daunting that your fat is being expelled through the urinary system. Don’t worry, you won’t feel it. The fat you are expelling is no longer solid, which makes it very easy to be released through the lymphatic or urinary system.
You will most likely not be approved for the ultrasonic cavitation procedure if you have any vascular or cardiac diseases. If you are pregnant or nursing, this treatment should always be avoided. People who have metal implants, pacemakers, cancer, or immune issues should also avoid this treatment.
Following this treatment, a high protein/low carb diet is recommended. Also, make sure to drink 1.5 liters of water at the minimum before your procedure, and exercise 30 minutes after for the best weight-loss results.
